入門編としては最適の、また熱心なファンでも安心して聴けるベスト盤。ここで紹介しているのは日本限定盤で、Disc 1はオーストラリアで行われたライヴ。選曲はほぼベストで、自分のライヴで歌うのは珍しくなった『Take It Easy』が嬉しい。Disc 2の方がベストで、『Somebody's Baby』はオリジナルには未収録だが映画のサントラとしてジャクソン最大のシングルヒットを記録した、代表曲のひとつ。ラスト『The Next Voice You Hear』は新曲であり、今作のサブタイトルにもなっている。 |

「MUSE (Musicians United For Safe Energy) = 安全なエネルギーを求めるミュージシャン連合」による、反原子力を唱えたチャリティコンサートを収録した2枚組。ジャクソンはグラハム･ナッシュらと共にMUSEを設立した、言わば中心人物で、その人脈を生かした形で多くのアーティストが参加。実際のコンサートは、マジソンスクエアガーデンで5日間に渡って行われた。ここでのジャクソンの演奏は3曲だが、目玉はやはり、ブルース･スプリングスティーンとの共演(イントロのときにブルースがジャクソンを呼んでいて、その場のノリで共演が実現したように見える)。この運動は、ジャクソンが「社会派」として具体的に活動を起こした、その出発点に当たる。 |
