『Best Of Bowie』は、各国盤で収録曲が微妙に異なるという、コレクター泣かせのベスト盤。ここで紹介している曲目は日本盤だが、ほぼ年代順に80's前半までセレクトされた後に、突然2002年作『Heathen』からの『Slow Burn』がラストに入っていて、なんとも理解に苦しむ選曲だ。『Changesbowie』は90年のボウイグレイテストヒッツツアーにリンクする形のリリースで、初出は『Fame』のリミックスバージョン。 『Singles Collection』は、サントラ提供などシングルのみでのリリース曲がDisc 2後半部に収録されていて、熱心なファンにはありがたい構成。いずれの作品もボウイのキャリアを手っ取り早く知るには手頃かもしれないが、個人的には入門編としてはオリジナルの『Ziggy Stardust』を推したい。 |

もともとは89年に3CD+1CDV、アナログサイズのパッケージでリリースされたのだが、ここ10年ほど廃盤状態。それが2003年暮れになって、4CDの箱パッケージになって再リリースされた。89年版が『Ashes To Ashes』で締めくくっていたのに対し、再発版は90'sまでフォロー。『The Buddha Of Suburbia』からの曲も収録している。ボリュームもあり値も張るが、ボウイのキャリアを知るにはこれが最低限の枚数と内容ではないかと思う。それにしても、89年版といい2003年版といい、日本盤がリリースされないのはどういうわけか。 |
