優れた音源を輩出している、英国国営放送スタジオライヴのクリーム版。7回に渡って行われた収録が年代順に並べられており、なんと全26曲中24曲が未発表音源だ。通常のライヴアルバムとは異なり、観客による割れんばかりの拍手や歓声というのは無い。しかしそうした状況が逆にプラスに働いていて、3人のアーティストがおのおのの楽器を駆使してぶつかり合う、バトルの凄まじさを際立たせる格好になっていて、聴く側にも緊張感が伝わってくる。 |

スタジオテイクをDisc1と2に、ライヴテイクをDisc3と4に配した、決定版と言えるボックスセット。Disc2後半には未発表テイクが集中。観客がいない状況でリラックスして演奏しているかと思えば、曲によっては3者によるバトルが繰り広げられている。ジャケットは『Disraeli Gears』をそのまま引用。ディスクもピクチャー仕様になっていて、サイケ時代を彷彿とさせている。実働2年半はあまりにも短過ぎたが、その短期間の間にこれだけの音源を残したことは、もっと評価されてしかるべきだと思う。 |
